The Liberia Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its upcoming General Elections of its new corps of officers during the 69th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Liberia Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. 

 

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and best practices around managing the pandemic, the LCC has adopted a different approach to its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Elections for the year 2020. This is important for the safety of our members and the reputation of the LCC.  The AGM and Elections will include a combination of virtual and physical participation.

 

The AGM and Elections will be held at the LCC HQ and have a live Zoom coverage for those unable to attend in person. Arrangements for the AGM will include social distancing, wearing of face masks, and hygiene.

 

Please NOTE: As agreed by the Executive Council, the term for the incoming Leadership/Executive Council will expire the 1st Monday of February 2022

Qualification to Vote

Only paid-up members will be allowed to vote (for 2020 year). One ballot will be provided for each paid-up registered member. Those members with more than one registered company will receive a ballot for each company. Voters will choose between voting in person or through absentee voting. 

 

Nomination of Candidates

Only paid up members will be permitted to nominate candidates for the various vacancies, namely; President, Auditor, Arbitrator (three persons), and Council Members (eleven persons). All nominations should be made through the completion of a nomination form (attached), which must be delivered to the Secretariat at the LCC HQ or submitted by email to liberiachambervote@gmail.com. The deadline for the submission of nomination forms is November 2, 2020. No nominations will be accepted after November 2, 2020, and there will be no nominations on the day of elections. 

 

In-Person Voting

For members choosing to vote in person:

  • In-Person voting will take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Liberia Chamber of Commerce during its Annual General Assembly, which starts at 4:00pm.

  • A ballot will be provided to you during the elections as per the updated Voter Roll. Only Members who have paid their Membership dues in for the year 2020 will be eligible to vote.

  • The deadline for payment of 2020 Membership dues is Monday November 2, 2020

 

PROXIES

  • Proxies will only be allowed for in- person voting.  All completed proxy forms must be signed and submitted to the Secretariat no later than 2PM Monday November 2, 2020.

 

Absentee Voting

For members who won’t be able to attend in person:

  • Notify the Secretariat in person OR by email (liberiachambervote@gmail.com) of your choice of absentee voting no later than Monday November 2, 2020. All members who have made such notification will receive their absentee ballot by email with instructions.  

  • Only Members who have paid their Membership dues for the year 2020 will be eligible to vote. The deadline for payment of 2020 Membership dues is Monday November 2, 2020..

  • Members must have an email for Absentee voting.  Only ONE email per company. A single email cannot be used to vote for multiple companies using the Absentee voting.

  • Absentee voting will be done using Electionbuddy platform. For more information, please visit www.electionbuddy.com. Members will be allowed to vote remotely prior to Tuesday November 10, 2020 AGM.

  • Electionbuddy is a simple, easy to use, tech-friendly ballot. All voting choices are confidential and cannot be linked to the voter for elections. And results can be hidden until the election ends for further anonymity.

 

How does it work?

  • Members requesting to vote absentee ballot must have a valid email address.

  • Members must submit their request via email using the Nomination Forms to the Secretariat by email: liberiachambervote@gmail.com no later than Monday November 2, 2020..

  • Once the request is received, eligible members will receive a Personal Voting Key.  Personal Voting Key can be used only once.  Require a 2nd password or confirm identity by phone.

  • Members can vote starting:  Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 through Sunday November 8th, 2020.

  • Last day to submit absentee vote:  Sunday November 8, 2020 Midnight

  • Members with single email with multiple companies:  One Personal Voting Key per company or organization

Only members who have paid their annual membership dues with a zero balance shall be eligible to nominate, vote, and/or contest in the elections.
